Hi! So, I have been told by local mechanic dude that this sign on my old, worn-down „vintage“ Peugeot bike frame might indicate that it is special and was initially a real race bike for professionals, or professional teams… Is there something to it?

I’ve never heard of anything like that. What’s the serial number? Can you post more photos?
No, this was in the middle-of-the-range, export-quality, early 1980s Peugeots. This is a decent bike, but by no means a pro level bike. Peugeot always made a few amazing bikes and very few of the bikes that made it to the USA market were amazing.
It’s the symbol of the secret cycling society. It is a clandestine group that makes decisions on cycle lane implementation globally behind closed doors.
Thats just a lug cutout. Nothing special. Not saying it wasn’t raced but that cutout is not a sign. Side note though those internal lugs, forget what Peugeot calls them, are apparently prone to breaking.

So many consumer grade Peugeot bikes from the 80s where I live, once in a blue moon you’ll come across a Reynolds 531 frame with non-stamped dropouts, but most of the bikes are really uninspiring
