Just unboxed my bike from flying. I took my chain off for the first time during flight to help prevent scratches and scuffs. Putting it back together now… Something definitely doesn’t look right… what did I screw up here? Or am I just hallucinating? Thanks for the help folks.

Chain is not routed correctly through your derailleur
Chain is routed wrong through the derailleur. Needs to not be riding on top of the tab in between derailleur arms.
Yeah, you can see the kink in the small-small pic where the chain is under the little tab.
Your problem is in between the derailleur cogs. The chain should be under that, not over.

Just fixed the tab (see pic). Thank you, all. Is it routed correctly now? I fixed that issue right after taking the pic, noticed it too… the bigger issue I thought I saw is that the chain looks too short? Am I just tripping?

That, and the chain might be too short. But that’s a bit hard to judge with the routing beeing wrong and all that.
I did this once. Rode for weeks like it too 😬
There is a nub/guide in between the two jockey wheels, you routed the chain on the wrong side of it.
