I love bikes, and I have a habit of buying too many of them. In an effort to consolidate, I decided to see if I could essentially turn my gravel bike into my road bike as well. I have a Ventum NS1 with Zipp 303 firecrest wheels. It’s a badass bike! I also have a Ventum GS1 that I love. I have a 30 mile loop with about 2000 feet of climbing from my front door, and decided to give it a shot on the NS1. Tracked my power and speed. The next day, I did the exact same loop on the GS1 with the same wheelset I used the day before. I was .7 MPH slower on the GS1 with essentially the same effort. I decided to repeat the same loop over the next two days again with each bike, and the results were essentially the same. Less than a 1 mph difference.
After completing this, I decided the GS1 was a perfect one bike solution for me. I can use it on mixed surface rides, gravel races or road group rides and it works perfect. I’m not competitive enough in road races to notice or need the minor difference.
