There's a big war on bikes in Canada right now. @OhTheUrbanity and @brucemacneil have been following this case for a few weeks.

the car ban in paris center is not applicable in practice. They have no way to actually check if you're going through or stopping there. I think even things like checking the plates would not be allowed due to data protection laws
The actions of the Ontario conservative government are very unpopular with the public and the city government. It is all a cover up to try and get planned highways exempt from environmental studies in a naturally protected area. It is very corrupt and it has started an all out culture way against bikes. The removal would be at the cost of billions and would absolutely cripple the city. There have been regular protests against it. I should also mention that this is all leading up to a provincial election.
I hope the people in Toronto and Bratislava watch this video and see how they are heading in the opposite direction from the rest of the developed countries with their mindless decisions
