Anyone else experiment with different crank arm lengths? Any tips without just buying several?

I only run short cranks when I’m going over rocks that strike longer cranks, more than I’m going on pedaling sections. I wouldn’t use a bike with short cranks to pedal to the store, too frustrating for me.
