Who’s super knowledgeable with Phil Wood Hubs?
I have this hand built tandem that was given to me and I am looking to rebuild it but have a question.
It has a non M8 (5/16 -24) thread and is a hollow axle. I’m assuming it’s very early hub from Phil wood.
Can I ignore the track style bolts and just use a quick release?
They came with bolts and would prefer a quick release. I’m assuming because it’s a hollow axle that it’s meant to be used either way.
Thanks ya’ll

If it is a true tandem hub the spacing may be a bit wider than a common QR can handle.
I don’t see a drum brake (or the threads it requires) on the non drive so it may be a “standard” hub, so measure the axle spacing and if it is 135mm go find a Shimano XT quick release and you should be fine. If the axle is 148 or 155 or something goofy like that you need to stay with the bolts.
Shimano skewers are the absolute best skewers ever.
