I had to travel across town today and I was cognizant of one intersection in particular that is challenging. There are very few bicycles and mostly cars. There is no bike infra.

As I rode to the intersection, I did my best to visualize how I would proceed safely through it. The wide intersection includes two left turn lanes at a stop light.

When I arrived at the intersection eight cars were queued in the far right left or straight turn lane. The light was red. I assessed the situation and decided to ride to the front of the lane.

As I was riding to the front, the light changed to green and green arrow. I melded into the middle of the lane between two cars with my hand signal.

The rear driver honked. I continued on in my three feet halo on the right side of the lane. It was exhilarating to ride in traffic but my thought is the driver would not have honked if I had been driving a car. We have a right to ride the roads with cars or without.
