It’s an older Planet X model, they’re good value bikes to begin with so I don’t think it’s immediately suspicious. I was looking around a few years ago at these second hand, they were going for a similar price back then. The thing that would make me question it would be the carbon wheels, but without knowing more about them it’s hard to say. Maybe go check it out with someone who knows carbon well.

Seems reasonable to me. It’s an ancient PX, caliper brakes and no electric shifters. I bought basically the same bike about 7 years ago for £1k.

It’s a very good bike for that money and would give few excuses against a 10k bike. Braking on cheaper carbon rims can be hit or miss. Usually miss. If the brakes are poor you could be able to pick up alloy rimmed wheels quite cheaply.
So if you are fit you’ll annoy the hell out of the 10k bike brigade by keeping up with them on a Planet X that likely cost the same as their shorts.
You could expect to pay £300 on a headset service or replacement rear derailleur on a ‘modern’ bike with electronic gears and hydraulic hoses routed through the headset.
