In this video, you will join me along an exciting eurovelo 8 bikepacking trip as…
I was on my journey to the Marseille train station, I noticed immigrants camping under the bridge. It was a stark reminder of challenges some people face.
At the train station, I was taken surprused by the need for a QR code ticket, which I didn’t have. Thankfully, a phone call to the staff resolved the issue, but it was a lesson learned to always allow extra time for unexpected hurdles.
Returning to the station in Manosque, I was still weary from a bout of food poisoning but eager to go on, even as the forecast promised rain within the hour. True to prediction, the first drops fell, accompanied by distant thunder, predicting a storm.
Once caught by a downpour. I quickly covered my bags and took a rain poncho. Luck was on my side when I found an Aldi, providing shelter under its roof while I waited for the rain to pass.
After rain stopped, I continued, though the forecast warned of another shower soon. The path led me through an unexpected detour around newly built houses and past grand rocky hills with caves on tops.
The route took me uphill through villages like Villeneuve, and then onto a section of Eurovelo that had been scorched by a forest fire.
As evening approached, I found myself on a busy road through a natural park. Taking a chance, I went onto a side road in search of a camping spot and found a small clearing.
The day ended with melted camembert and dry baguette, a simple yet satisfying reward. As I settled in for the night, my thoughts turned to the next day’s ride to Montpellier.

Nice stretch of the Eurovelo. Great scenery. And a more quiet camping spot this time, at least from the looks of it 🙂
