Dodds Diaries Episode 118A – Birmingham Overnight Stay – Part 1/2

Part 1 of an overnight stay in Birmingham and for me this was a pre birthday treat.

I travel on the bus to Durham then catch a very busy Crosscountry voyager to Birmingham New Street which is where the train ended up terminating because of flooding further south west, I check into me ibis budget hotel and then spotting at New Street I catch a glimpse of the new Avanti West Coast class 805s which are just like the Azumas, Nova 1’s etc and also saw West Midlands Railways new class 730s which were replacing the class 323s.

The last 323 service would operate later that week.

In the evening I travel once again to Tamworth which I enjoyed doing 3 years ago so I thought id go back again and despite the weather it was a good session with plenty of freight and regular traffic. I then catch a voyager back to Birmingham.
