Excellent album! Thanks for your support, Jim. Cheers!!
You just never know what kind of song you're going to get from these guys next. Pretty decent stuff!
I have heard a lot of disappointment out there about this record. Honestly I do get it . Red Alert is a masterpiece and probably their most progressive works. But as a stand alone record , this is truly very strong rock record! It took me a few listens to love this, but it is a solid effort by these cats! Loved the reaction Jim! π€
Hey Jim! Hope you are well? Surgery tomorrow! Keep good thoughts for me. πππππ
On this album the wheel is not being reinvented but it has been incorporated into the Finnish equivalent of a Rolls Royce by some master wheelwrights. Sometimes (well, a lot of the time) I yearn for something unexpected that I haven't heard before, something that I can't get anywhere else, something at the limits. To be honest I'm not getting that here but I am getting the very best in pop/rock and for that, the Von Hertzen Brothers deserve fulsome praise. Will it be in my top 5 of the year? Well, probably not, because I want more than pop/rock but bloody good try, VHB.
Sounds like Coldplay. Not a fan. But hey, to each his own.
Great reaction Jim although I was half watching you and half watching a chattering of starlings just outside my window. They were here to listen to some amazing music π₯°. Those last 3 tracks, just so emotional.
After having listened to the whole album, who clearly can tell, that it's different than Red Alert … I like In Murmuration, but I like Red Alert a bit better …
I also like the War Is Over album (which you have somewhere on your shelf) a bit better than In Murmuration. Knowing three of the albums before those 3
I can say there is no bad album, not even a bad song … but surely always different.
So 2nd Dec is coming closer and closer and I know you will have a great time. I hope you'll meet Mikko and his brothers personally, have a drink with them .. and think of me … who introduced you to this wonderful band …. and wished to be there with you π€
Love the start….its a Kinks kind of beat and feels – oh yeah and QOTSA for sure great call Jimπ₯Έ. Always like the odd quirky melodies Von Hertzen Bros bring together. Getting 60s vibes πΈ
Just like the last record, I'm getting that 'what is this??' vibe in a good way. There's definitely something overall more upbeat about this album – a soulful choral element that melodically keeps you on your toes. Loooooove snowstorm π¨οΈ π¨οΈ π¨οΈ π¨οΈ π¨οΈ π¨οΈ π¨οΈπ€Def getting the cd!πΏπ
Wish i could be at the garage gig as id get to see these guys but mostly would get to meet you again Jim. Have a great time dude. Oh and wanted to ask are you going to the london Maiden gig next year Jim? (i managed to get a seatπ€!!!)
As much as I enjoy VHB, that 1st song was a blatant rip-off of Queens of The Stoneage's song Np One Knows. Otherwise, very cool new album.
