IMHO yes, looks like a good one, as long as the frame’s not too big for you. It’s got fenders, rack, lights, pretty well set up with a single front chain ring (1 less derailleur = considerably less maintenance) (long time commuter here)
Should be fine for commuting. FoCo is relatively flat and has [good bike infrastructure](http://gisweb.fcgov.com/HTML5Viewer/Index.html?Viewer=FCMaps&LayerTheme=Bikeway%20System).
It won’t get you up and around Horsetooth, but if you wanna do that you should be able to sell this bike for nearly what you paid for it.
6 miles total? Yeah, it’s perfectly suitable for the task.
