Hey everyone! Looking for some advice here. So this is my father’s Claud Butler. He absolutely loved this bike. I have the coolest childhood memories of him proudly riding it and taking amazing care of it. But before he passed away last year, it sat in an outdoor shed, untouched, for several years while he was sick, and now: this. I want to bring it back to life and ideally restore it for a future generation in his honor. Obviously I keep it indoors. I lubed up the chains and gears and replaced the brake pads – and it rides! But it looks so rough. And it rides kind of rough too. Where do I begin? How does one restore a vintage bicycle while restoring the original logos/livery and paint style?
