It was great to wake up to totally dry tents waiting for us in the hotel’s dance hall.
After a very nice breakfast at the hotel restaurant, we were off by around 9am.
It wasn’t long after we left town that we hit our first climb…and it was a very long and steep one along A466 which topped out at what we later learned was the Eagles Nest viewpoint. We continued down the other side into the Wye River valley and into lovely Tintern Prava, then the route took us up over another ridge and down into the Wye valley once more before ending up at beautiful and somewhat bustling Ross on Wye, where we stopped for a break.
Continued zig-zagging north through Dymock and along the edge of the Malvern Hills National Landscape before stopping once again in Upton upon Severn before the final push of the day which took us to the River Severn once again and along it we rode into Worcester…the largest city we’d yet to visit on this ride…and it was surprisingly nice!
Nigel booked us a couple of rooms right in the centre of town at the Travellodge…and it was perfect (except for the tiny elevators that we had to stand our bikes up in…).
Went for a stroll in town to a pub where we heard the pizza and beer were very good…we were not disappointed!!!
