Mark Cavendish claimed victory in his final race as a professional cyclist. The 39-year-old produced a trademark sprint finish to cross the line first in the Tour de France Prudential Singapore Criterium. Cavendish’s fellow competitors gave him a guard of honour before the race and the Manxman understandably had mixed feelings at the end saying: ‘I’m very, very happy and very emotional, but very happy.’ He added: ‘I could see the lads coming down, I knew the last 25 laps of my career. Last 15 laps of my career, last 10 laps, last three laps, last lap. And then the last kilometre, it was a it was nice. I felt every bit of it.’
