…are skates not a toy? Like genuinely im confused. My definition of skates is shoes that you play in by rolling instead of walking. Thats why you go to a park or skate place tk use them. What do people use skates for besides playing? Im legitimately confused, somone please reply. I googled "are skates toys" and google gave no real answer but it fwels like yes considering wvwrything that popped up was kids skates.
I went to dicks to buy my first pair walked out because they were $150 went to Walmart for some cheaper options and walked right back out and went back to dicks and bought the $150 pair the the quality was far superior and I’m happy I didn’t cheap out 😂
for your first skates, just get some decent ones secondhand. i got mine for 20 bucks when theyre usually 60. (get them from someone who realized the hobby wasnt for them, not very worn-out ones)
He's right scates all have different styles, sizes, weels for different elements, so…drum roll please……wooh thare all different sizes, and the other thing he's right about is that states are not a toy its a hobby and if you wanted to start skating you should have at least 150$ set aside for the hobby. And remember as long as you set you mind on it you can do it, good luck hope this helps🤗
i got insanely lucky- i went to a community garage sale and someone was selling skates with extra bearings, all of the safety equipment, and bags. sadly the zipper of the bag for the skates broke, but overall… it cost me TEN BUCKS. and the skates aren’t shitty at all!! seriously i got so lucky cause i was looking for a pair to learn on.
I paid 180 in the 80s but if you want good ones youve gotta go to the skate shop where they build them for you which means you buy the boot, trucks, wheels, laces, stoppers, everything separately. It could go up to $350. Most of it goes to the boot.
My skates were 20 dollars and are nice skates. Someone was selling skates on Facebook marketplace and they had only been used twice. (They where roller blades) I think they were moving and needed to get rid of some stuff

A skate is a reinforced shoe with wheels screwed on. Parts alone cost more than a tennis shoe

Just give a range from cheapest to most expensive
“They are between $40 – $200 depending on what you’re looking for”
Skates are a lifestyle not a toy
i do artistic skating so i have really fancy ones that have wheels that are good for turns and tight edges, thry cost about £300-£400 new
They're shoes with wheels. Of course they'll cost more than just cheap shoes.
