Hello all, I’m new to Reddit and the Brompton group.
In June I purchased a P-line. After riding it for 3 months and 1,500km: what and amazing upgrade compared to my first Brompton, a 3-speed from 2002! The only mods I did where chancing the chain ring from stock 50T to 54T.
And after two months changed it to 56T. Now in 4th gear its quite similar to what I was used for more then 20years using the 3rd speed of the Sturmey Archer hub. At a London Brompton shop I tested a C-line and P-line. The thing that convinced me very quickly to decide in favour of the P-line was the better shock absorption of the road and it’s lighter weight.
My question:
I just returned from the French Pyrenees where I made several trips into the mountains with inclinations of mostly 5 to 8%.
During climbing I was bothered by a creaking sound whenever I was applying force on the pedals. A noise I could easily replicate when standing next to my P-line bike and pushing the weight of my upper body on the saddle. After reading some posts on this forum today I first checked the suspension block. The sound in the video is precisely what I heard during riding up the mountains. Should I just disassemble the parts and apply some grease as suggested on this forum?
