The Czech Republic is the hardest to describe of all the Bike-O-Vision journeys so far. Fantastically ornate gothic and baroque architecture juxtaposed with blocky iron-curtain-era factories, the exotic Slavic language and so many unique castles from bygone empires combine to ignite the imagination; its full of contrasts and eclecticisms. This is not Switzerland or France: you’ll see more of the rusty, developing side of Europe on the backroads, and yet these many kilometers of wild, hilly countryside lead to absolutely amazing Unesco heritage sites such as the bridged towns of Loket and Cesky Krumlov.
One highlight is the art nouveau splendor of Marianske Lazne with its magnificently ornate spas, hotels and grand central park. Of course you’ll pedal through parts of Prague, the “city of a thousand spires” and indeed one of the top cultural capitals of central Europe. Prepare yourself- you’re bound to have an interesting workout here for 62 minutes, replete with maps, music and more.
