In this episode I find the best road ive ever ridden and end up in disappointment as Split is not what i expected – sorry if you live there, maybe i need to re-visit!

the parts without any forest are usually just too much rock or there was a fire and everything burned down because those are common here

I did the same thing in Bologna at the Ducati factory. When we finally got there I was told I couldn’t use their car park as I didn’t have a Ducati even though they had about 100 spaces! So, I told him to poke his shitty motorbikes and I went on my way…. Mainly due to me also having radio rental Heath issues too. Once you get fucked off it’s hard to get out of it!

this is my exact sentiment with cities. absolute shite compared to the country where people are still nice to each other and the scenery is stunning. this episode perfectly captures the modern paradigm and that last part I relate with a little too much lol

You seemed quite upbeat in this instalment. Tea total is definitely the way to go. You should have stayed in that small coastal town that welcomed bikers.
That coast road is very reminiscent of Highway One that runs down the US west coast. Every turn seems to provide another stunning view.
I’m thankful that you shared it with us. It’s definitely making me contemplate heading of on my GSA 1250 and do a Lone Ranger trip. I’d like it for all of the same reasons as you did. We seem to have the same logic in common 🤔
And, I’ve been an avid full-face Arai wearer for decades, but it’s always a flip front Shoei when touring… every village and town dawdle means time to flip up and let the air circulate. You have to try one.

Watching this many months after posting, and without seeing where you're headed, but down the Dalmatian coast there's a lovely small town called Cavtat, it maybe fits the 'cute' category that Split didn't meet!
Instantly subscribed when I heard your thoughts about Split. As a Croatian, you are almost spot on. It has been ruined by tourism indeed, but it always was a junkie infested shithole. Sibenik and Zadar are much nicer coastal cities.
When we travel on Croatian coastline, we always wear swimming shorts under moto gear,and find a place to cool off in warm sea,eat and drink.

The Best Part of the Coast Road [D8, Jadranska Magistrala] is between Zadar and Dubrovnik, over Šibenik, Trogir, Split and Makarska ❤
Fom Senj to Split you have Zadar you dident see. You go on highvay, stay on old roads, miss Plitvice national park.

You probably feel much better in Londonistan. Split has its drawbacks like any other place but your problems lie elsewhere. In order to enjoy Split and things you see when you go there, you need to do your homework first. But, it looks like you’re a superficial person yourself, so that’s something nobody can expect from you.
I rode this Road too…beautiful..but did you ride the stilfser joch? I bet only the transfagarasan in romania is better;-)
Why the islands (northern ones) are without vegetation? Two reasons – 1) Bura – northern wind that makes it really hard for vegetation to catch on and 2) Venice was built on wooden pylons made from woods that used to be trees on this islands – this is what you get because of hundred of years of deforestation. And because of Bura, once the islands were stripped of trees, the forests never managed to grow once more on the northern sides of islands.
lol no. The name Dalmatia is very old. The dog breed is from there – that’s why it’s called a Dalmatian. It has nothing to do with spots 🤣.

I had the pleasure of riding the coast road to Dubrovnik from Trieste/Slovenia/Croatia in 2007! It was not all complete but I agree, what a lovely scenic road to ride!
The islands were once covered in oak and pine trees, until the Romans needed large amounts of wood, to build their immense fleet of ships to conquer and destroy Carthage about 220 BCE.
The further South you go, the more green and lush the landscape becomes.

If you think Split was bad, then come see Dubrovnik past 10:00 a.m., when the cruise ships arrived and the city gets flooded with tourists.

Hiya Chris, just watched your video on Croatia! Sorry you had such a tough time and hope you resolved some of the issues. Just wondering what month you were in Croatia? What to do moto tour there but want to avoid the worst of the heat!
You yourself came to Split as a tourist, so don't complain that the city is full of tourists. It's just ridiculous.
Chorvatské pobřeží je hodně členité a jízda na motorce "starou" jadranskou magistrálou je úžasným zážitkem, bohužel, každých 1000 metrů je na silnici nějaká dopravní značka která omezuje rychlost nebo zakazuje předjíždění….jezdit tudy rychle se dá mimo sezonu, pokud vaši rychlost nezměří policie, ideálně v květnu a v září, od poloviny června do poloviny září je silnice plná obytných automobilů a různých dodávek motorkáři zde musí porušovat předpisy jinak uvíznou v kolonách😊
