For the same reason as everything else: The labor is cheaper.

A lot of bikes are made in Asia, Taiwan especially. They do the frames, and I think they send the frames back to Europe and elsewhere to be painted and assembled.
At least, that is what I’ve gathered from a bit of research.
The profiteers squandered a lot of industries. The political elite is just waking up to the fact, that national security has been compromised by that. Greed is the root of many problems.
False. My bikes were made in Wisconsin.
I can’t find it now, but *Velo News* had a great article about Schwinn, Giant, and technology transfer some years ago.
Mine were made in Ch…..Chehalis, WA.
Helkama bikes are still made in Finland, though I suppose they aren’t as popular elsewhere.
