I took off the rear wheel of my Roscoe 8 to clean the bike and the wheel fell and hit the ground and the cassette fell off. The lock ring is still on but when I go to put the cassette back on it keeps slipping off.

It’s a real plague, [we had the same thing on yesterday](https://www.reddit.com/r/bikewrench/comments/1g2wako/putting_this_back_on/) – maybe those hints help you too.
Shove it back together. If it don’t fit give it a twist to the left if you are looking at the cassette. Then make sure you aren’t missing your endcap a firm push in on both ends of the axles should complete the job. This has been going on with trek wheels for a long time
Luckily your pawls and springs are all still there… Once those springs shoot out … You’re lucky to find half of them.
When those hubs are new the end caps are super super tight. As the bike breaks in, the fit gets a bit more sloppy. Make sure the rear axle is up to the correct torque so eliminate hub free play, which can cause these end caps to get loose over time as well
This actually happened to someone I was helping on a ride recently. They got some bungees stuck in the cassette, and when we took the wheel off, this happened.
Just push it back on while rotating it anti clockwise so that the pawls go in, it’s that simple. Then stick the wheel back on the bike as normal.
