There are many things which I love about living in Germany. It is a country with a huge amount of cultural variety and a deep respect for the natural environment. This summer has been amazing (at least for me) . Having had so much rain everything is unbelievably green, clean and fresh.

Join me as I explore some of my favourite regions of Germany.

  1. Ahhh………nice to see Prince Harry again. You do so remind me of him. Very nice video. I was in Ff/M when in the US army 50 years ago. Had thought of staying in Germany, but came to Arizona for the sunny days most of the year. I do miss Germany though so much ~

  2. Thanks I really enjoyed this slice of Germany from an expat perspective. There's no doubt Germany is a wonderful country. My impression from a distance is that it is a little better setup for quality of life for the average citizen compared with the UK. Both great countries though.

  3. Funny how foreigner appriciate our country while the citizen onny see the worst and how bad it become. Due to imigiration and islam and many other things
But the safety for women in Germany really got bad. You showed of course the most beautiful areas. But thats notcthe true Getman life. Even Frankfurg has high criminal count and drug abuse. Its not all happy and smiling.

  4. I'm a german and have been 8 times or so in UK, although. Only once in London, otherwise in Places like Carlisle, Haywards Heath, Shropshire (all of this for 7-30 day long work trips) and Cotswold, Oxford (holiday). And I never had the experience that I had no access to nature. If anything, the UK thing of "public right of way" I liked. These ways — althought usually only for pedestrians — lead me into the middle of nowhere, often to places where you couldn't see or hear a car at all. However, I already mentions one downside of UK… this is a country not made for bikes. Public right of way is nice if you're by foot … and once, as a German, put away your fear of crossing someone else's property. But it's definitely not for bikes. In Carlisle, I stayed at a friend from Netherlands, and of course he had a bike and another one he could lend me. We were the only two people that commuted to work in the moring … if felt a bit surreal!

  5. Two books:
Jerome K. Jerome: Three Men on a Bummel
    Mark Twain: A Tramp Abroad
(both written before world wars and all the… other notions and stereotypes abt Germany and Germans)
Germany is actually beautiful (in my opinion, that is not mentioned often enough; I'm glad you made this video). Germans have been, for a long time, deeply dedicated to keep their nature beautiful and enjoy it in the best way possible. And it shows. Been living in Munich for a few yrs now – can confirm

  6. My new favorite part of Germany since last june actually, is the Palatinate Forest in the southwest. Especially the area around Pirmasens is absolutely beautiful. Rolling hills, deep forests, castle ruins everywhere, cute villages and amazing sandstone formations like the Teufelstisch. And the best thing: It seems completely undiscovered by mass tourism.

  8. I was born in 1973 and I' m sick of the Nazi- comparison.
Unfortunately, human beeing in general is willing to do almost everything what an authority tells them to do. Would you be different? Would you risk your life for someone you don't even know?
Would you rather be shot than to shoot someone you are told to?
I wouldn' t want to live in another Place than in Oberschwaben, by the way.

  9. I would love to see the Elbsandsteingebirge in Saxony … but the population is so racist and homophobic … I would NEVER visit these regions again.

I would rather travel to Turkey and visit Pamukkale, than to bring any money to "those people" in the south-east of Germany

  10. Fun fact: Almost 200 years ago the british romantics discovered the rhine valley for tourism. You should visit the beautiful village of Kiedrich that was restored by an english aristocrat in the middle of the 19th century(Sir John Sutton)😄

  11. (My comment didn't show up and I don't know why. So I post again with adding some "x"): The growing antisemitismx and hatex of Jewsx and Israelx is a shame, a scandal esp. for Germany. I'm horrified that so many people have sympathy for terroristsx and totalitarismx!

  12. Well, do the Germany really care so deeply about their environment? As an ecologically informed German myself I would strongly doubt that!
It's certainly true that we are one of the tidiest and cleanest countries in the world and yes, there is a lot of green.
But If you take a closer look the picture is devastating. Biodiversity has decreased immensely, we are not far from loosing all of our insects, there's hardly no original forests and rivers left. People still eat too much meat, which is one of the biggest problems for nature at all. And what people like to call nature is mostly nothing but agriindustrially used spaces to grow food or trees or extremely tidy gardens and public spaces that almost don't have any value for nature at all. Our soils are already widely exhausted or literally destroyed, our forests are sick…
Most people seem to think, that's only nature, non of my business. Soon they'll find out they're wrong on this. Unfortunately… 😢

  13. Being a climber I am most thrilled by the sandstonetowers of Pfalz (Palatinate) west of Landau and those of the Elbsandstein east of Dresden. The Frankenjura northeast of Nürnberg offers north of 10k routes in limestone. All the aforementioned areas also offer forests, clear waters and regional cuisine.

  14. People are real in Germany. No passive aggressive or sugarcoating bullshit like you’ll get in the UK. Fuck being polite if makes you dishonest.

  15. Germany was even more beautiful before the Lords implemented tiny moustache man to give Winston a pretext to burn it down. Note: Common english men have no responsibilty in this strategy. They themselves are victims of the empire, Look at how rotten Middle England has become.

  16. You can also go swim in the Main river, which I used to do in the early 2000s a lot. There are some nice spots near Schwanheimer Ufer for that. 🙂

  18. Great video. Hello from South Africa, I have had the privilege of visiting friends in Bayreuth twice already, and I absolutely love the whole area. You don't have far to walk and you are completely surrounded by nature. I found myself walking my friends dogs daily, even picking dogs up from the local shelter to join us for daily walks. Would definitely do it again.❤

  19. You were in Augsburg. Good. From there it's not far to Bad Wörishofen a Kurort. A place so typically German as there can be. The whole place is a spa, originally for the Kneipp-Kur, a cold water course of treatment discovered end 19th century by the catholic priest Sebastian Kneipp who practiced there. Wonderful nature all around with well marked trails.

  20. I grew up in Frankfurt and still miss Hessen a lot. But I’ve had the great privilege to live and work all over Germany (and to travel extensively abroad, as well) – the world is just so full of amazing places! Weirdly, one of my favorites is still the tiny town where I was born, Bad Arolsen in Waldeck.
