Just curious. Is there a vintage website to shop components? Or is worth cleaning and restoring components. I have a 1979-80s Schwinn 10speed made in Taiwan. I don’t know much as the bicycle was given to me.

I think the red Schwinn World in the foreground is from about 1984. The World (like World, World Sport, etc.) was code for a bike that was made for Schwinn by others. That is why there are things marked Schwinn Approved and not just Schwinn. On the drive side, just above the rear axle there should be a code like G1284. The G is for Giant who made bikes for Schwinn in Taiwan. The year is broken into 26 two week manufacturing periods. The first two digits indicate which. The last two are the year.
