I bought some Schwalbe Johnny Watts tires for my trek Fuel EX 8 (they are not tubeless ready). I had tubeless Bontrager xr4 tires on before on Bontrager comp 30 wheels. I tried setting the Johnny watts up tubeless as I had luck doing that with my Schwalbe Hurricanes on my other bike even though they aren’t tubeless ready tires, and it blew out on my first test ride. Anyhow, I tried installing another (I had purchased 2) Johnny watts on my wheel again this time with a tube, and I found the tire off the rim and the tube had burst even though I’d left the bike on my repair stand. Any ideas why these tires just don’t seem to work? I have successfully reinstalled the XR4 tire after both “explosions “.

The pressure gauge on your pump isn’t an achievement meter, you don’t need to get to 100.
If the tire blew off the rim once already there’s a fair chance the bead is now broken and it’ll no longer stay on any rim.
Definitely the pressure gauge. Btw I love schwalbes! I had a similar problem with schwalbes when it came to putting on the tires myself. I got one on but the other I had similar problem. At that point I just drove to a shop and the dude put the tire on the rim within seconds. He didn’t charge me either.
Go to a shop and ask for help 🙂
What width are the new tires, what width are the old tires and what is your inner rim width?
