So I found this old miyata on the side of the road and wanted to restore it, so when I got home I took the derailleur off and completely cleaned it but I forgot to take a picture of how it looked originally and now I don’t know how to re install it, could anyone help me out?

how did you “take the derailleur off”? I’m looking through pics of old miyatas trying to find something similar; and how that hanger is supposed to attach to the frame because there’s no obvious spot from your pics.
I think it’s missing a part to keep the derailleur stabilized.
1. The skewer lever is on the wrong side. Unscrew the qr skewer is on the non-drivetrain side.
2. Hub axle between the frame dropouts
3. Derailleur on the outside of the frame
4. Clamp that skewer on hard.
I swear I think that derailleur mount is missing a part to keep it mounted straight.
You’re missing a part. Ask a LBS for this question so they can provide you the part (very simple little piece and a bolt with it).
