Specialized Hard Rock build help?

What’s up guys I just got this 1993? Specialized Hard Rock frame. This is my first time working on a bike with gears, I just put a 36t narrow wide chain ring and crank set on, I’m intending to build it as a 8 speed or 10 speed. What would u need to look for for the rear wheel, is there a specific hub for 8 or 10 cassette or is it interchangeable? It came with a wheel set that had a 7 speed cassette, would I be able to replace it with a 8 or 10? Thank you!
