I started riding several years ago on a hard tail Specialized Fuse. I ride mostly just basic flow trails around town with some obstacles but no crazy downhill or anything. I’ve never owned a full suspension and I’ve been wanting to try it out.
I narrowed my search down to a Stumpjumper but need help choosing the model level. They are both on sale and the dealer has offered me extra discounts on the Pro. Which one of these would you choose?

I can get this one for $4920 but not crazy about the color.

Is the pro worth the extra $1000? My knowledge of the components is lacking.

Better suspension and drivetrain. Also carbon wheelset. That’s worth the extra cost for sure. But I do much prefer Shimano brakes. I would have to remove those sram brakes but you may love them.

The Pro all day. I have a new expert and I paid $4650 on sale. I would have gotten the pro if I could have at that price. I love my Expert!
I’d be pretty happy with the components on the less expensive model, but the $1000 difference is very reasonable if you are interested in carbon/lighter wheels and wireless shifting.
The Pro is definitely worth the price increase… For me. Whether the better components will give you personally $1000 worth of giggles is hard to say.
What type of sram brakes do the bikes come with? If they are codes? I wouldn’t worry about switching the brakes.
If you have the money the upgrades are definitely worth the 1k. The bike yoke dropper is a 400 dollar dropper alone. Plus the better wheel set. If money is tight the comp is still a great bike. You’ll be good either way.
The pro is a nicer spec and the wireless drivetrain would be nice but I’m a sucker for shimano so I would save the money. I have a polygon siskiu withe that same slx drivetrain and its really good. I don’t have the slx brakes but if I was going to upgrade the tektro ones that came on my bike I would probably go with the shimano slx ones.
The pro, no brainer. Factory suspension vs entry level. Axs. Carbon wheels. Several thousand in upgrades over the comp. If you can afford it it’s far superior to the comp
Love my Pro. Definitely worth the premium if you can fit it in your budget.
