I am looking to upgrade my current bike (a 2016 Diamondback hybrid bike).
I will be using this new bike exclusively for longer rides (5 miles and up). Not for commuting. For this, I would like a nice mix of comfort and speed. This was the only related post I could find on this question.
There seems to be a couple of CF options under $3k in the market and was wondering if anyone had insights into these options or others I might not be aware of.
These are the ones I've found so far:
- Salsa Warroad C 105 ($2,500)
- BikeCannondale Synapse Carbon 4 BikeVan ($2,600)
- Rysel EDR CF Ultegra Disc Road Bike ($2,999)
- Canyon Endurace CF 7 ($2,399)
- HeartsFit Model H CF road bike Shimano Sora ($1,800)
- R872 Disc – Sport Shimano Tiagra ($1,880)
- R872 Disc 105 Enthusiast Shimano 105 ($2,350)
- R872 Disc 105 Pro Shimano 105 Di2 ($2,199)
Some things I am looking for:
- Full carbon frame
- Tyre width in the 28–32 mm range
- A bike I can upgrade over time with some ease
- I keep reading to aim for at least a mid-tier Shimano set, but I honestly don't know enough about how different they will be for my intended bike use.
- While my budget goes up to $3k, if there is a good deal to be had under, say, $2.5k or $2k, even better

I think the canyon is a really solid bet.
