  1. I was given this frame/fork that was stripped of paint by a kind stranger on the internet with the promise that I would paint, restore and ride it. It is a 1980 Medici Gran Tourismo in Reynolds 531 with Suntour brakes, shifters and derailleurs. I ride in the mountains so I have an easy triple up front and a wide cassette in the back. The 700c wheels fit 38cm but I am running 35’s because they are just as comfy. If you are a Medici aficionado you will notice these are not the Mario Confente designed investment cast lugs, they ran out and used these on a handful of bikes to keep production going.

I didn’t like having to pick the color (too many choices) but in the end I chose green because we have no green bikes in our stable. Orange is my favorite color so that had to be part of the deal. I am amazed at how comfortable this bike is after I threw it together with spare parts I had lying around in my parts drawers. This one will be ridden as long as I can ride a bike.

  2. whoa.. so that’s the Medici you were talking about. The decals were from VeloCals, right? As always amazing paint job on your bikes. I couldn’t even believe this is powder coat; it’s skinny the lug details shine through.

  3. Turned out really beautiful. The flutes on the seatpost are an entry point for water/moisture. If you can raise it up further you should or else possibly consider another seatpost. Not trying to take away from the build. Just a tip.

  4. Ugh! This is the bike I’d build if I had the time and resources. Absolutely gorgeous bike. You did a fantastic job. Hope it brings you many good miles and smiles.
