I noticed on my new bike that the gap between the lower linkage and frame grows when the suspension compresses, hence a stone can enter that gap and get crushed against your nice new carbon frame when the suspension decompresses, which happened to me the other day (luckily only enough to create a small chip in the paint) so I made this out of T-Rex waterproof tape, its stuck only to the rear triangle, and there’s a gap of about 1mm-2mm between the tape and frame so it won’t rub any paint off as the rear triangle moves up and down, and if a stone does manage to fit between that gap it will be so small it should just fall straight out the bottom instead of getting stuck and crushed against the frame, its strong and sticky rubberised tape, on my last bike I used it for my chainstay protector, I put it on a few years ago and its still good today, no tears or anything.
