Recently bought it in a garage sale but the owners didn’t know anything about it except they bought it in 1985 approx. Would love to know if it’s something special or just an average bike. Perhaps someone can identify the brand and/or model? Thanks in advance!

From this one photo, the best I can tell you is it’s an entry level model. I would have thought it was from earlier than 1985, more like mid to late 70’s. If it’s actually from ’85 it was really bottom of the barrel at the time. That’s not to say it isn’t a perfectly good, rideable bike, just that it will be very basic. It would be a good choice for a “lockup” bike in the city or if you live in another high theft area.
I’d say a basic level bike. If you like riding it then it’s worth something to you. I’d definitely fix the positioning of the handlebars though!
Hard to say, looks like it may have been resprayed? I didn’t see any markings at all on which is weird.
But lugged steel frames like that are solid, geometry looks bog standard for the time. It’s probably very comfortable.
I had a Schwinn of similar vintage, and I put probably 3k miles on it as a commuter.
Guess ’70’s; downtube shifters tip off. The fork end and rear dropout appear strange to me. I could not get a sharp close-up view, but something doesn’t add up, IMHO.
> If you need help trying to ID a bike/frame, please take pictures of: The whole bike, head badge, decals, lugs/welds, serial number, components/parts, and anything else of note on the bike. Pictures should not be taken with a potato, i.e. good res, close up, not blurry, good lighting.
it is cute
Thank you guys for the replies. I definitely have a better idea on it. I’m really clueless about bikes but have had a blast riding this one. Cheers!
Did the original owners have 3 sets of elbows?
Hard to say without any more pictures. One thing I notice though is that it has the dual-position brake levers. these were more common on the cheaper bikes of the time. Personally though, I kinda like those levers for the riding around my neighborhood that includes frequent stops and starts.
That’s not to necessarily say it’s a bad or poorly-built bike, but likely not worth a ton.
Yes, the handlebars are at an insane angle. Glad I could help.
