Bicycle Touring the Via Bologna was challenging! The route takes you from Florence (Firenze) up into the mountains right in the centre of Italy. The route is good fun and generally pretty quiet except from the Roar of sports cars on their way to the Mugello race tracks and coming from the ferrari factories nearby. We indulged in some excellent pasta from an authentic Italian restaurant on the way and continued over the passo della futa!

We also had our second night of italian wild camping. It’s like normal camping but with more ants. There’s another pass called the Passo Della Raticosa which again wasn’t too tough but the heat made it harder. Coming down the other side was an absolute dream towards the city of Bologna. Bologna is a beautiful city, full of culture and character and some annoying squinty towers. We got chucked out a church for wearing cycling shorts, JESUS!

After the mountains of Italy, we were in the Po Valley, and cycled from Ferrara to Chioggia via the Po River. We experienced some famous Italian hospitality and got treated to an mega lunch. No regrets.

Cycling on the flat was very hard, long distances on flat terrain is so much harder, even harder than climbing mountains, if you disagree you can fight me.

  1. *They ate all my food". 😆. The look on his face, haha!

I'm planning a cycling trip through Italy and southern France, might ride along the Po for awhile, I also get bored with flat roads but it might be alright for a few days.
