how did the drivetrain hold up on that ride? i’m not an elitist by any means, just wondering how durable it is. i have a 5 year old slx drivetrain on my bike and see no need for anything higher than that as a recreational rider.

I don’t care what anybody says, I like your bike and I like your pics. People will say anything to make themselves feel better which includes bringing other people down.
Congrats! Wouldn’t pay attn to people who focus on $$ parts and bikes. They are usually either status seekers, marketing stooges or spoiled kids whose rich parents pay for everything. Basically all people you should avoid and ignore.
It’s like camera people shaming people for having a budget DSLR like a Nikon D3200. Your gear is your gear, if you aren’t willing to learn how to use what you have to the fullest of your abilities you won’t advance and you’ll think your gear is holding you back.
That looks like an epic trip. Have to say, bikepacking looks amazing but how much planning does it take to get there and travel A) safely and B) water, food, toilets. In that order?
Id love to do something similar while I can.
