Hello!
I justed washed my new-to-me road bike and cleaned the chain and cassette with degreaser, but now I can't stop noticing this grinding sound coming from the rear hub area when backpedaling and coasting.
I did not use a pressure washer, and made sure not to point the hose directly at the bearings, but it still seems like cleaning the drivetrain introduced a problem.
I tried removing the rear wheel, and the grinding noise is not present when spinning the wheel on its own, but is indeed there when spinning the cassette I think. Does this mean the freehub has been contaminated? Or is it the wheel bearing that needs re-greasing?
I've been cycling for many years, but this is the first time I've been more aware of how to properly clean and maintain my bikes, but it feels like I'm only making things worse. Any help would be appreciated.
