I’m asking for some guidance. I have an OG Redneck stem that I’d like to use on my new build. Only issue is that it’s the wrong color. I’d really love for it to be polished. So has anyone out there successfully stripped off the anodized coating and polished a stem? If so, what were the steps you took? Thanks in advance!

That’s vintage, do not polish it. Leave it alone.

Unless you plan to sell it do what you want lol. It can be polished up if you really want to
Dang, this is not how I expected this thread to go. Looks like I need to track down another stem. I was able to find a polished shredneck on eBay 😂
“easy off” oven cleaner will strip anodizing. Do it in a ventilated area and where gloves
After the amp is off to can polish it with an aluminum polishing cream like “mothers”
As other answers this is likely a mk2 redneck, value varies, but $150 isn’t uncommon, so hey it’s your stem do what you want, but I’d not polish it.
They made a brushed version maybe you can find that one 🤷♂️
I’d look for a polished one and try and do a trade.

That was my first solid stem. It was bomb-proof. It was also the sharpest-edged thing my knees ever slammed into. 10/10 would bruise again.
So many scars on my knees from snapping a chain and smashing it in to the back of a redneck, sick stem though. Dude if it makes you happy polish it, it’ll look rad.
