Currently building up a second hand trek frame because my girlfriend expressed some interest in maybe coming on rides with me.
I got this frame because she 'liked the colors' and after ordering some bits online I have been building it up when I have had time over the past few days. This is only the third time I have built a bike from frame up so I'm quite new to this.
Last night i was about to finish the build but when I went to fit the cables I noticed that one of the cable slots (?) is too big and does not have a little stopper at the end. I totally did not notice this or even know to look for it at the time of purchase. My friend says it's for a hydraulic disc cable ? I am using v-brakes.
Basically my question is how do I work around this, can I even work around this? I tried (ashamedly) to bodge it with some tape yesterday but when I pulled the brake the housing just slipped out from the slot that's too big, given that there's no stopper.
I was thinking about 3D printing a thing to go inside it but would like to keep this quite low effort and low cost given that she might not want to ride all that often and we're both quite busy. Maybe the insert that i would print is already available? I could not find it online.
TL;DR Cable no fit, how make cable fit?

There are special inserts to fit these frames to allow you to use your v-brakes. They are similar to cable ferrules.
I’m thinking that that would allow fot the cable outer to run the full length of the top tube
