This bike is a 2012ish Nashbar Argyle I’ve had since new. I’ve had a drivetrain creak since then that a better chain, pedals, bottom bracket and rear wheel didn’t fix. Finally replaced the original Dicta 16T freewheel (which I had lubricated a few times already) with a Shimano SF-1200 16T and a new KMC S1 chain (old one was only 2 years old but why not?) I know the crank teeth are a little shitty but I think the freewheel fixed the vibration/creak! It’s so much smoother too.

I was going to say: “You really should try to replace the chainring, too”, but I see the chainring is integral with the crank.

    That chainring looks gnarly.
