This is the first day of my trip to Normandy from the 25th August to the 2nd of Sept 2024. I had been looking forward to this trip for a while and the first day certainly didn’t disappoint! The trails outside Le Havre heading south are a mixed bunch, some relaxed and easy going, others a bit more of a challenge – but all fun. It’s mostly forestry, which can be quite muddy in places as the water sits for ages, shielded from the sun by the trees. Some other parts are steep, loose and rocky with big lumps of flint large enough to deflect you into the trees if you’re not careful. Not really novice friendly (especially if on your own), it is big bike friendly if you’re a decent rider – if not, be prepared to turn at the sketchy bits!
