EML are nearly always something to do with exhausts or lights. They should just call them the "euro just reset light" blimming things. Glad it's sorted anyway. I totally get why you don't want to decat, it sounds so good as it is.
That's pretty good going for years and miles without issues. Perhaps if you need to, get a second hand one off a breaker's yard?
I had the EML come on on my Kwak. Manual says O2 sensor, probably due to moisture (rain or a ford? Very unusual for me 😅). Had the dealership reset the light, no issues since 👍 (3-5k miles)
That's problem with exhaust flapper valves but off copper grease and cables lubrication,, old exup 30 years ago same 👍 seems like a great motorcycle 🏍️,☘️☘️☘️☘️☘️☘️☘️ from northern Ireland
Good choice of test route. Pretty sure I saw a that truck the other day. Not sure if you can for the M10 but I’m pretty sure you can for others just buy a Carrie delete or something that just leaves it open
Hi Richard sorry I cannot help but that seems cheap to get replaced . My friend has a bmw and his flapper valve got stuck he had to have completely new headers fitted cause there sealed on to them luckily it was still under warranty otherwise £1500 to do it 👍🏍️
I'm not a fan of loud exhausts, and they don't save lives! Bought a bike with an after marker can fitted but also came with the original. I liked it too start with, especially with short, sharp acceleration but after my first long trip that involved motorways it was replaced with the original immediately. What an annoying drone! The first couple of rides with the new exhaust was quite an eye opener as I was travelling so much faster in view of the lack of noise. It took a little while to adjust to normal speeds.
The bikes a keeper even tho you tottle along at safe speeds. It’s always good to know you have the poke if you need it or just enjoy a blast now and again, within the speed limits of course. Only decide to change it if it has become uncomfortable when touring, due to older joints.
Yamaha MT-10 SP 2017 – 2020 Healtech Exhaust Eliminator. Get ine of them i did for my super duke then you dont have to worry they jam all the time. I also had the same on my GS.
The MT-10 is a great looking insect of a bike, so I could see why you'd keep it and enjoy it, to the degree that you can on the roads at least. If you were to swap it out for something else though, any ideas what that might be?
I thought it was something more complicated. I hope that now it is solved. It is always reasonable to change the bike, but for a better one. Better is not always a brand new one. 🙂 Great video Richard, enjoyed. Can check my community tab when you can. Cheers.
The bmw suffer from them valves..iv just purchased a hex gs911 so I can read and clear code amongst other things.. going to leave it on the bike full time as it light and small.. hopefully won't need it in picos next week . Glad your is all sorted it a lovely bike and a keeper I think ..iv decided to keep the gsa for now so it's upgrades will continue 😊
I'm glad it didn't cost too much to diagnose and resolve the issue as well as surprised to know the cost of a replacement. It seems the Healtech eliminator might be the best option going forwards unless someone comes up with one they've got lying around. The ZZR has gone and the BMW R1250R should be in my stable by the end of next week. I'm sad but excited as the Beemer seems like it's going to be a while lot of fun.
Rich. I have left my EM light on for nearly 3k miles. It makes not a jot of difference to how the bikes goes. It came on when I put my MT10 on a paddock stand, put it in first gear and let it tick over in gear whilst I lubed the chain and on the light came. When it's next serviced, the dealer will reset it to off. I still fill my bike wherever possible, at home and make sure the fuel ends up just under where the underside of the cap just touches the fuel. Sure it takes a little time, but it's about another 2 – 3 litres. Give it a go. Nice vid again. Why would you change a bike as good as the MT10? Blimy Rich you're only 60. Stay with it, you know it makes sense.
Hello. I don’t really know what the exhaust flaps do. I had the exact same problem on my GSA. I took advice from my local BMW dealer and fixed it myself. How long it stays fixed, who knows. Nothing to get in a flap about though! 😂

Considering the years of ownership and mileage the flapper valve is pretty insignificant problem, I'd keep the MT-10 until you get a major problem.

Very awesome Yamaha MT-10 my friend. One of my dream bike
The beemers suffer with a similar problem. That Mt sounds lovely under acceleration 👌
I agree with Jerry, keep it till it stops 👍
have a look at a servo buddy for a made to measure solution.

BMW insist on changing the whole headers if the valve sticks on a GS…… £1500 please 😡

Sounds like your getting itchy feet with the MT. Out of interest, what would you like to change it for?

A cheapish fix, but now you know what caused it you can free it and lube it yourself next time.
Glad you got it sorted mate… and now you know how to fix it, you could save mony in the future if it gets sticky again
