Was on holiday in Abruzzo with the bike. This road (SP54) has a no cycling sign (a few in fact), and it's a quiet and decent road. Why no bikes? Anyone from this area know what the deal is here?
No bicycles. No motorcycles. I got curious as to why two wheeled vehicles would be prohibited so I followed the road for a while on Google maps. Turns out, that road socks. There are some spots where the road maintenance is so bad that instead of fixing a pothole, the just out a new permanent sign in the road to make you drive around the pothole.

That is really weird, I could understand why motorcycles are not allowed (noise), but bicycles? I’ve never seen such a restriction on a 30 limit road where any civilian car is still allowed.
I took a look to what’s ahead and the only thing I can think about is that you ended up in an area where the residents despise bicycles so much that they were able to convince the Comune to put a sign up. Either that or the residents put it up without permission.
