2022 Orbea Occam M10 LT takes a 180mm rear rotor without adapters. I'm trying to swap on a wheel with a 203 rotor. However, with the adapter installed, the pads barely contact the rotor. They are too high up.
Am I installing it wrong, or is this the wrong adapter?
I don't think it should matter, but the wheel with the 180s is 6 bolt and the wheel with 203s is centerlock. And they are Shimano XT brakes.

If your bike came with 180’s and with no bracket then you need SM-MA-F203P/PM. What you have is for a frame made for 160’s without an adapter.

I cant tell 100%, but it does look upside down. If you want to go bigger, just think it should be more distanced from the center to leave room for the increase in diameter, which is generally up and back from the center at approximately 45 degrees angle. .
The longest screw should go through the threads on your bike and through the longest part of the adapter. If that makes sense
Take a look at this magura adapter chart. It looks like your adapter is for 160 to 203 (same as magura’s QM42). You need an adapter like magura QM44.

I really wish these adapter would just be labeled +20 or +40, or something like that versus trying to guess or assume what our frames will accept natively.
This adapter is a +40, meaning its meant to convert a 160mm mount to a 203mm rotor. Or, a 180mm mount to a 220mm rotor.
You should be fine fitting a ‘180mm’ mount. Or anything that is a simple +20mm.
This is the 160 to 203 adaptor, the 180 to 203 is likely the frame of 160 to 180 adaptor.
You bought the wrong one.
