Many things you mentioned on this list apply to many countries, but you haven't mentioned two most important factors or NOT moving to Potugal. Fristly, the language is absolutely awful. I'm sorry (not sorry) if I offended some portugeese of Brazilian people, but the language sounds like somebody trying to speak normal language while having a stroke 😂 Lastly, the main reason why NOT to move to Portugal is that more and more Americans move there. And we all know what happens to a region Murica comes along 😂
lots of people spitting on the roads, that puts me way off. Theyll build up phlegm and spit right in front of you while having a nice merry walk.
if you dont want buereacracy and red tape, dont emigrate to any country in the universe. I dont know hwy people say Protugal is particualry bad, have you been to any other place in the EU? or even the UK?
Portugal actually sucks for working and building wealth, but I got to say for retirement is quite nice. But if you want money, that is one of the last countries you want to be in. Also the judicial system sucks and their self defense laws are a joke.
And Portuguese are not serious people in general. They just want to make money fast without doing much and their real estate sucks…. and is overpriced !!!
I agree with you 100% and there is many more. True that even though the beaches are nice, you can never swim at any time of the year because the ocean is so cold !!! There is nothing better than the Mediterranean sea for enjoyment and swimming.
Smoking in Portugal is very very bad. Time they stopped it from being allowed in Bars and Restaurants.
As infatuated as I’ve been with Portugal expats are driving the locals out of the housing market because they are no longer affordable .
I would still live in Portugal. It's one of the most beautiful countries in the world, the people are friendly and I love the Portuguese language.

I only can say Go and live there, make your own opinion. For me was the Wintertime the hardest your letterlijk living in House in a frisge. Heating is expencife. Making friends with the locals is Easy. Going for a Social visit diner, Don,t take flowers with you. Buy a Gasbotle, for heating up the Environment. They are much more appreciated.

Being from Britain only positive thoughts come to mind when I think of Portugal, I think of beautiful historical streets and amazing beaches and laid back and friendly people? Any other country I can think of at least a few negative stereotypes 🤷 I know that the Portuguese/British alliance is the oldest in the world

Agree only on the points regarding the bureaucracy (but thenm which country as no bureaucracy?) and the language (but I can understand 80-90% when reading Portuguese news within less than 6 months). It is true that understanding what is being said is very difficult because of the nature of European Portuguese; this in turn makes it difficult to "break into Portuguese circles. Nevertheless, I can already speak some Portuguese after 6 months, albeit far from perfect and certainly not enough to sustain a long conversation. Also, when they (the Portuguese people) recognize that you are foreigner, they would speak more clearly to help you understand waht is being said.
I retired here 9 years ago. Can’t wait to leave. Portugal is 20 years behind the rest of the world. Local hospital just closed its paediatric department as it has no doctors . Food is expensive in supermarkets and bad quality. Go to a Spanish border town the supermarket is full of Portuguese. Ridiculously expensive real estate, high taxes . The Algarve is one large tourist resort dead in the winter. Crime rates are low because the police do absolutely nothing except do road blocks. Go to Vilamoura or Albufeira at night you’ll see drug dealers everywhere blatantly trying to sell you drugs or prostitutes but you won’t see police anywhere. Corruption everywhere the courts full of planing department corrupt employees.
You need to learn the language and culture In order to understand a lot of points here.
As a Portuguese I understand the Anglo American culture because
1) I studied in the US
2) i major on English and culture literature
Most of the hurdles explained on this video can be surpassed if you know the language and culture … but it takes some effort 🤷♂️
I'm Portuguese. Crime went up 6000%, taxes are 99%, there is no running water, no Internet, and the electricity is only possible through portable generators. Everyone runs around in 2 atroke motorbikes with lots of smoke, murderer of foreigners is legal, and we all strave and ask for money. Stay away

Living outside the major cities its easy to find long term rentals and in the south the water is warm.
Where on this earth is a place that every YES every thing is going smooth I don't know of such a place
