The casette fell off and wouldn’t stay on. I can’t seem to find if it supposed to have a lockring or not. 2017/18 SRAM.

Never seen this before. The cassette is broken. You need a new one.
The single part cogs should not separate from the XD spline. This is a defect and I am not sure if repairable (cog body could be pressed and glued on the spline)
You could try contacting SRAM because this cassette is not cheap, but 2017/2018 is way too old for warranty claims.
