    Unless your just riding gravel roads, absolutely not. And even if you are just riding gravel roads, absolutely not. You can find bikes in the dumpster that would serve you better. Bikes are pretty cheap right now, even for like 500 bucks you would do way way better than something like this

  2. You should be able to find a well maintained, and properly tuned bike that’s only 15 years old for under $175. For off road purposes of nearly any kind – you want a shock, and an “threadless” headset.

  3. I had one as my second bike…..in 1992. It was good….for the time.

    Nowadays? Nope. Even a used budget hardtail (like a GT aggressor pro or similar) is way more advanced, more stable, and safer, with technology that could only be dreamed of back then. The disc brakes and geometry alone make a modern bike a far more sensible purchase.

    Not as a mountain bike, but the frame would make a lovely retro gravel with drop bars…

    However, this would require significant investment and love to make it happen!
