Hi, just looking for opinion of more experienced people in cycling.
Looking for a shoe to start taking road cycling more seriously but don’t want to spend a lot yet, so have been looking online and found a good price for this fizik tempo decos on my usual shoe size EU41. I have been wearing them for a couple of hours at home just to feel them and adjust the boa’s.. so far they seem comfortable overall but the big toe is touching a bit backwards, as seen on image. Have put my right foot on sole only just to compare. Is this too big generally? Any constructive opinion is very welcome. Thanks ☺️

A shoe should be absolutely comfortable. When you are 3 hours on the saddle or its hot (feet tend to get bigger when hot) you’ll regret it if they’re not comfortable. I’d try another brand just to have something to compare to (Trek’s Bontrager, Specialized or Shimano are the usual suspects and all make great shoes).
You have wide feet, get an appropriate model. MTB/CX shoes are a great alternative for people with wide feet.
Also, your feet will swell when riding in the heat so take that into account. Shoes are very important, don’t take the tiniest bit of discomfort if you can avoid it
there are a lot of wide or extra wide fitting shoes. shimano for instance. dont ride in these, you will regret it
I habe wide feet too. I guess i‘ll try Lake shoes soon, have only heard good stuff about them. Their Website features some tips for measuring and getting the right shoe. Not the cheapest, but i found some sales prices at about 130 which is ok for something you spend many hours in.
I also have wide feet, was told I needed to spend $400 on shoes. was at REI and tried a set of Shimano entry level gravel shoes a half size up from what I normally wear and they fit great. got em for $100 too!
I have wider feet and this summer doing my big long ride my toes got very sore in my Bontrager circuit shoes. I have since replaced with a pair of Fizik Overcurve R4 Wide, I even went a half size bigger than my usual to give my foot extra room. Better the shoes has extra toe space.
flat pedals for wide feet, not worth the effort trying to find fitting shoes unless u have a lot of money
You have wide feet. Bont and Lake have wide models
I have very wide feet and finally was able to be comfortable with Lake.
I’ve been biking for 20 years. The only show I’ve ever had that’s felt truly comfortable is Lake. They are expensive, but not crazy. The quality is good and the fit is perfect.
If I had to I would pay as much for my shoes as I do for my bike. Life is too short for feet that hurt.
If the usual euro fit style shoes aren’t working, finding a bike fitter who specializes in feet can help. Custom insoles can make the same shoe feel a lot different.
Lake have a wide variety of lasts (foot shapes) for many of their models, which increases the odds of finding the right fit. This is especially true if your feet are big, wide, or unusual in shape.
Feet are like boobs. The pair is rarely exactly the same size. Often they will be a size apart.
Fiziks run narrow in my experience. But sizing up makes them too long, I’ve been happy with shimano shoes, personally, having a slightly wider fit.
