I don’t have a ton of money to spend, so the cheaper the better.. but I’ve never heard of Kent bikes and wanted some input from this community on how it compares to the Schwinn I was previously looking at

Can you try looking at local craigslist or FB marketplace- you may be able to find some great deals on used higher end bikes
I’d look for something used. You can really stretch out your budget and get something other than a department store bike

I echo what others said about finding something used, I built Walmart bikes for a few months and if I had to buy one, I would buy the Ozark Trail G.1 Explorer, for a $250 Walmart bike it’s decent. Changing the tires would make a world of difference on that bike too, but that costs more $$
Kent is a really untrustworthy brand. They are definitely cheap for a reason
