I am completely new to cycling and had no idea what I was doing when I ordered a bike. I got the Cannondale Synopsis AL 2 and I’m worried I made a mistake.
Some issues I’ve had is that the front gear keeps slipping down to the lower one and that a lot of times I’m already riding on the hardest gear.
My coworkers / friends all seem to have gotten either way more expensive or way cheaper bikes. I seem to be the only one in the middle. Did I mess up getting this bike? Should I return it and just save up for a better one? I still am not really sure what I am looking for in a “good” bike.
Thanks in advance, would really appreciate peoples thoughts here

I would like to add that I got this for road cycling – am trying to do a few sprint / Olympic triathlons. I’m also 4’11 so on the smaller side
nothing wrong with the bike, it’s a great bike. the shop must have just set it up wrong. entirely fixable and tuneable. i wouldn’t worry about weather or not you got the wrong bike. plus, tiagra is a great groupset.
tuning the drive train will fix everything
That’s a really good bike. But if REI shipped it to you, it probably needs a proper tune-in and setup from a local bike shop.
