Hello all! My mother has graciously offered to buy me a new bike next Tuesday so I can get to work. (High speed, smooth-ish surface, hopping up and down curbs, cutting through grass and very quick turning.) She gave me a budget of $150 to choose one. I've been told it's far better to buy a used one for that price, but my mother insists the bike MUST be new, because if it looks too high end, it is more likely to get stolen. I am having immense trouble finding a '29 bike that fits that price range. Please help.
I prefer the bike be available in a store to avoid issues with delivery.
Can I get away with 26 inches?? And just work to buy new tires??

Get a used bike. You aren’t getting anything high end for $150, just make sure you get a quality Ulock and use it.
