Hello Everyone!
I hope this is a good place to ask this question hahaha, but feel free to ignore this if not the case or delete it.
I’ve recently decided that I’d like to get into cycling and am looking for some recommendations for beginner road bikes (as there is an insane amount of options out there).
Im 6’3, 215lbs, and have a 28” inseam.
Any help in what to consider on entry to the sport, what type of bikes I should look at, options on actual bikes, etc would be very appreciated!
I also someone I know selling this Giant Propel Advanced Pro 0 for $2400 and would love to understand for this community how well priced it is? If it could be a good entry into the sport? And if it would be good for me at my height/weight/experience level? It has paint chip near the headset, and I’m not entirely sure if that could cause any structural issues down the line.
Frame size: Large
Wheelset: Giant SLR Carbon
Full Ultegra 6800 Groupset
Thank you for your time, attention, and help in advance 🙂

This certainly is a nice bike, and you’ve looked for about the right frame size as well.
It’s a bit hard for me to comment on the price of the bike, because prices can vary from region to region. Where I live (Germany) this would go for about 1500-2000€, so much less.
But even if this was a good price, I’d argue it’s not the best bike to start road cycling on. The geometry is very aggressive (you’ll be very long and low on the bike), which can be pretty uncomfortable if you haven’t cycled a lot already. The Bike is also built to be very stiff, so you’ll feel road bumps a lot .
That, and factoring in the paint chip, (which might well be more than just paint) would be why I’d tell you to look around a bit more.
I’d probably say you should look more towards the endurance road category, they have slightly wider tires, are more upright and comfortable over longer distances, or if you’re not used to riding road bikes a lot.
