Hi lovely people.

I have a 2013 S3R. I bought it in Jan for a new job with commute – it was brand new in box in someone's dads loft & it's in perfect condition. It's going for it's first service next week (I regularly clean chain, lube hinges etc as I all weather commute).

I absolutely love it. I do find myself eyeing up the P & T lines for a lighter experience (I use trains often and sometimes carrying it up steps etc in train stations with my giant borough waterproof bag full of stuff gets tiring) but I really shouldn't splash out unnecessarily for an upgrade, so I wonder what things I could do to improve the experience for me.

The only "upgrades" I've done is add ergon GP3 grips which have been such an incredible addition for my wrists.

I've seen titanium seatposts but worry about them not being bromptons own & not sure where is reputable to buy from.

Any pointers would be greatly appreciated!

I'm in the UK for context.

  1. T-Line carbon saddle, carbon/ti seatpost, replace the rear internal gear hub and get 3-5s rear wheelset with derailleuer, T-Line front wheel, a set of continental urban contact tyres, rear minirack, carbon / ti handlebar.

by then u’d probably reach P-Line weight without sacrificing its functionality.

No carbon or titanium part is going to help you with that. The most straightforward solution would be to unclip the bag and carry it on your back when you are not riding. I leave my M bag only on the bike if it’s mostly empty, otherwise it feels like I’m lifting an extra bike with my left hand. Taking weight from the seatpost would only increase the imbalance.
